  • Is chipboard strong?

The strength of a chipboard sheet usually depends on its thickness and the density of the wood particles. While chipboard isn’t as strong as solid timber planks, it’s a great fit for a range of projects that don’t require seriously durable wood, and as cover sheets for framing.

    What is chipboard made from?

Chipboard is made of wood particles like sawdust and wood chips, fused together with strong adhesives.

Is chipboard safe for exterior use?

It’s not recommended to use chipboard for use outside, as it can be susceptible to damage by moisture and rain. This is because water can find its way into the particulate and cause the wood to absorb moisture, swell, weaken, and break up over time.
